Deakin House

Deakin House opened it's doors in March 1993, and is home to six individuals with developmental challenges. Our beautiful home has various areas to enjoy, including private rooms , a large airy kitchen, a beautiful sun room and a cozy livingroom. We also have a backyard patio and a well tended flower garden in the front for leisure times.

Accessibility

As well as having an inviting home atmosphere , our home is fully wheelchair accessible. We have two bathrooms that are both fitted with overhead track lifting , as well as in most of the bedrooms, enabling the people we care for to be as independent as possible in their activities of daily living. The home is staffed 24 hours per day with dedicated, qualified, and caring staff.

Respite Care

We also provide a welcoming Respite Care bed, for those people who require some occasional support outside of their regular accommodations.

Activities

Like many community members we enjoy participating in various activities outside of home. In addition to strolls in our neighbourhood, Deakin House has it's own accessible vehicle that we use to get out to various planned and spontaneous activities such as festivals, theatre, personal shopping, groceries and appointments to mention a few.
