TayCare Ready 2 Learn Program Stewart School

The Taycare Ready 2 Learn program is licensed under the Ontario Day Nurseries Act and is located in Stewart School in Perth, Ontario. It provides licensed early childhood and care programs to coincide with the schedules of the regular JK/SK education program offered at Stewart School. The Junior and Senior Kindergarten child care programs provide early childhood education and care to children on the days they do not attend the regular school JK/SK program. Before and after school care is provided to all age groups from JK/SK to 12 years old. Care for full days on the Christmas break, March break and professional development days, as well as a summer day camp for children 6 - 12 years is also provided . This a program which is operated in partnership with the Upper Canada District School Board in which the school hours are provided by the school board at no cost. The before and after programs however are fee-based and thus parents will be required to pay child care fees for this part of the program. Spaces for the before and after component may be limited due to the availability of classroom space at Stewart School. RatiosAll Qualified staff are members of the College of Early Childhood Educators. The staff to child ratio with our Junior and Senior Kindergarten is 1-10 and School age children is 1-15. SnacksThe senior centre provides nutritious snacks for the afterschool program that meet with the Canada Food Guide recommendations. During full day programs a morning and afternoon snack are provided. OutingsDuring the summer the day camp take field trips bi-weekly, as well as walking outings around the community. OutdoorsChildren are supervised in our fenced in playground and staff to child ratios are met at all times. The play structures are inspected yearly by a certified inspector to ensure that we meet all of the CSA safety standards. As well the yard is inspected daily, monthly and seasonally by our staff. Fee subsidies are available to all a parents who qualify under a provincially regulated income test. The Fee subsidy applications are administered by the County of Lanark and they can be contacted at (613) 267-4200, ext 2304 or email ss@county.lanark.on.ca. Before applying for a subsidy, parents must find a licensed child care that best fits their needs. Eligibility is determined based on guidelines established by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
